How does it work

How to use Second Life Notifier

Second Life Notifier is a simple application that makes use of the Second Life website to provide the ability to track which of your friends are online, when they login and when they logout. Specifically, Second Life Notifier download the web frame displaying the list of online friends from the Second Life website. By maintaining its own list of online friends, Second Life Notifier has the ability to notify you when one of your friend is now online or offline. However, in order for Second Life Notifier to be able to access the list containing your online friends, you need to login onto the Second Life website with your Second Life name, using Apple's own web browser, Safari.

Second Life Notifier uses various functionalities provided by Mac OS X to grab your attention whether you're working in another application, when the Second Life Notifier window is hidden in the background. To post system-wide notifications, Second Life Notifier relies on the free Growl notification framework. If Growl is not installed on your system, you will lose a big part of Second Life Notifier functionality. So, you are encouraged to install Growl on your system. It is very well designed, has a lot of options and is supported by many applications.

Second Life Notifier is a shareware application. That means you are allowed to use all functionalities for 30 days from the first time you launch it. After the 30 days trial, you can purchase a registration code in Second Life that will keep all functionalities working and allow you to benefit of all subsequent upgrades and new functionalities. If you decide not to purchase the registration code after 30 days, Second Life Notifier will revert to a basic set of functionalities. It will still display your friends online but will not notify you whenever one of them login or logout. The price of the registration code is only L$750 or, converted to USD, about only $4.00! To purchase a license, you have to login into Second Life and visit our store there. You can click the following link to automatically launch Second Life, if it's not running, and be teleported to our store: Nemesys Second Life Store. When you buy our Second Life Notifier object, you will receive a registration code in the main chat that you can use to register Second Life Notifier on your Macintosh.
